Jil Sander S/S '10

Comparing the upcoming Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2009 collection with Spring/Summer 2010, Raf Simons has toned the overall Jil Sander look back drastically. Instead of heavily structured pieces featuring narrow shoulders and cinched waists, the spring collection is relaxed and falls in a natural fashion. Call it simple, but from the bowl cuts to the predominantly white color palette, Simons has created a collection that is likely to be unique to its season.

Missoni S/S '10

Missoni is the light at the end of the tunnel. Warm pale sprays of of tan, yellow and blue welcome the discerning eye. The collection of varied knits, coats, cardigans, tops and relaxed trousers boast a lived-in quality that works perfectly with Missoni’s affection for light denim washes. It may be too early to start my list of must-haves but Missoni is always somewhere at the top of my list.

Burberry Prorsum S/S '10

Burberry’s Creative Director, Christopher Bailey designed a collection that was weather proof. From the subtle use of animal prints to techno fabrics and bondage straps, Bailey crafts a Burberry that is wild in a conservative manner. Black and gray carry a strong note in the collection, but they are accompanied by the ingenious appearance of spring pastels that warmly dress the light-weight overcoat. Also of note is the metallic brown outerwear that falls nicely in line with bold primary colors.

Dolce & Gabbana S/S '10

Focusing on the sartorial suit, the silhouette for Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010
was kept classically chic, but had extreme indulgent amounts of embellishment. This idea
of glitz and sparkle made its way to simple tanks, tops, cargos and trousers. Not unexpe-
cted for Dolce & Gabbana, but a surprise for the collection were ripped jeans often paired
over lounge pants. I like the fact that Dolce didn't go for the bright colors and patterns that
they usually do.

Undercover S/S '10

Undercover’s spring looks have evolved from last season’s survivalist aesthetic to a minimalist avant-garde approach. Still maintaining control on the range of colors offered, the line features tailored garments as well as more relaxed athletic-inspired looks. The collection reminds me of something that Yohji Yamamoto would design for Y-3.

H&M x Jimmy Choo

This fall, Jimmy Choo is sure to turn things around after the less than stellar turnout
for Matthew Williamson. Debuting November 14, 2009, Jimmy Choo’s H&M
collaboration will include a men’s collection of shoes, bags and accessories. Jimmy
Choo’s founder and president, Tamara Mellon expressed, “We are privileged to be
among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far, and to be des-
igning a collection appealing to fashion savvy, street smart women, and to be including
some great pieces for men, too. I personally stopped liking H&M when they started
to design young clothing I.E. stars and striped hoodies etc. but with all these high-end
designer collaborations, they're starting to grow on me once again. And Jimmy Choo
for men?, Sounds wonderful.

Asger Juel Larsen F/W '09

Asger Juel Larsen’s fall collection is the unique exploration of unusual material blends and silhouettes that offer a look that s not only wearable, but masculine. Creating a collection that mirrors his own personal aesthetic, Larsen was inspired by the medieval period with special attention paid to chain mail. Larsen trades in the typical bulky chain mail of the period for a chic lighter contemporary. Boxy and relatively short, the chain mail is given definite shapes that beautifully contrast the billowing silhouettes of many of the collection’s trousers. Adding the final touch of drama, the collection is complete with the addition of long sheen and sheer outerwear.

Pudel F/W '09

I always love when designers design for more than one label and their
collections turn out to be totally different. Lina Österman is the perfect
example of a designer that can do it without a problem. And in fact,
Pudel's Fall/Winter 2009 collection is totally different from that of the
Spring/Summer '09. And they are all equally as nice.

Lina Österman F/W '09

Pudel's creative director, Lina Österman is progressing along
with her self-titled label. Showcasing her second collection,
Österman’s vision for fall picks up where her spring line left
off. The gender-neutral concept has evolved into a collection
that is bolder and generally rougher around the edges. The
collection is kept gothic (High-End gothic that is) with black
being its only color. The femininity of lace is balanced by
the rebellious nature of leather, rips and studs.

Etro F/W '09

This collection for Etro is amazing! The cape has me speechless. The warm colors show
off all of the intricate details as well as the wonderful fabric choices. I have always liked
Etro. But this collection changed my like into LOVE.

Filippa K Pre-Fall 2009

Filippa K is a label that will never disappoint you. Whether it be their Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter collection; you will always find at least one piece that you can wear. They merge high fashion with urban high fashion. This collection acts as the smooth transition between summer and fall/winter providing semi-light functional separates. Working in blue, black and a rustic red.
